The Black List Poster Series

The Black List Poster Series
Problem:
Design a series of posters to promote this documentary.

About the documentary:
Premiered in 2008. Journalist Elvis Mitchell interviews twenty-two African American leaders, ranging from athletes and academics to politicians, social activists, and artists, providing a series of living portraits-a unique glimpse into the zeitgeist of black America-and redefining traditional notions of a "blacklist".

Concept:
Going against the norm and dealing with prejudice was the idea. To create a series for a younger generation. The characters names are bold to show empowerment, as well as changing people's views on African Americans. However, their faces are cropped out, showing that most of them are anonymous no matter how great they are; they still face discrimination of being black. The brush marks emphasize their struggle in today's society. Each character in the documentary has their own poster.
